We Helped Fill & Pack 350 Care Packages For Troops

Throughout the year, Kingwood Rotary donates special treats to help fill care packages with the Blue Star Moms - Houston which are shipped to local troops serving in harm's way overseas.  But it takes on a different meaning during the holidays as we're reminded that our troops are away from home and their loved ones during Christmas.

Our members went shopping and donated $1,000 of food to help fill the boxes.  In addition our members also wrote holiday cards showing our gratitude to these American heroes.  We also placed a basket with holiday cards where we meet for our weekly club dinner, The Union Kitchen, so others could also write cards for the troops.

We asked students at Bear Branch Elementary School in Kingwood to create cards...and they were absolutely amazing and heartfelt!  Each one thanked them for their service in ways that only children can express!

We helped pack 350 boxes which were immediately delivered to the post office so the can be delivered before Christmas.  Inside each box we placed several holiday cards to the recipient of the box could share with their fellow troops.
