We're excited to welcome Lieutenants Aaron and Chantel Millin with The Salvation Army - Aldine Westfield Community Care Center in northeast Houston. From worship services, a food pantry, a Boys & Girls Club, men and women's ministry, plus sports, music and band, this remarkable couple are impacting the individuals and families in the northeast Houston communities.
Aaron Millin was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He met and married Chantel, who was born and raised in Henderson, Texas. He attended the College of Biblical Studies and Kilgore College in Kilgore, TX. She attended Texas Tech University before transferring to the University of Texas at Tyler, where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Prior to becoming a Salvation Army Officer Aaron was employed in the following fields: food and restaurant, gas and oil compression, and the banking industry. Chantel was previously employed in banking, newspaper advertising, and cellular technology.
As employees of The Salvation Army from 2012-2015, Aaron worked as the BFI or youth pastor while Chantel was employed as the Community and Corporate Relations Coordinator. In 2015 they both entered The Salvation Army training college, where they completed the two year program which included biblical studies as well as entry level training on business administration and operations. Through that course of study they both received degrees in practical ministries. They are both very excited about being appointed to Aldine Westfield Boys and Girls Club and look forward to all that God has in store for our community.

Our members will be volunteering at the ABBY Foundation's Pet Vaccination at A.V. "Bull" Salas Park at 21675-B McClesky Road, New Caney 77351 Senior citizens love their pets, but many can't afford to vaccinate them. This event provides very low cost (or free) vaccinations for the pets of senior citizens. 2004 Kingwood High School graduate, Marine Lance Corporal Luke Yepsen, died December 14, 2006 due to injuries sustained from enemy action in Anbar Province, Iraq serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Luke was a proud Marine, and each year near the anniversary of his tragic death, his fellow Marines come to Kingwood to visit with his mom and dad, Sheila and Gary Yepsen. It's a time to remember this brave American and for his fellow Marines to share their stories and help heal the hearts of those that love Luke. Kingwood Rotarians will never forget this young hero, and to honor Luke, his family and his friends, Kingwood Rotarians proudly place American flags in the Yepson's yard on all patriotic holidays, and on the days before and after December 14th. This is our way to let the Yepsen family know that we honor the sacrifice their son made for us, and our great country. The Yepsen family said Luke had a "strong desire to serve the country. He wanted to fight for the things we hold dear and since he was strong and capable, and armed with his faith in God, he felt the need to protect us. That he lost his life so young at the age of 20 and so soon after being stationed in Iraq makes it all the more tragic." Click here for a KHOU Channel 11 report about Lukes commander, Richard Casper. Luke was gunner for Richard's Humvee squad in Iraq. In honor of Luke, he founded CreatiVets, the non-profit organization that makes it all happen, started offering music therapy to veterans in honor of reatiVets, Music can help to heal even the deepest wounds of war. With the help of some famous songwriters, military veterans are sharing their pain through song. |
