It was exciting for our Kingwood Rotarians to visit our $32.468 community service project at the Kingwood Branch Library.
When Hurricane Harvey hit the Kingwood Area, the Kingwood Branch Library was flooded by several feet of nasty, dangerous flood water, including the Children's Section of the library. Since our members wanted to do a project that would help the entire community, we decided the library would be our community project. We asked Ryan Fennell, Branch Manager, what was his "Wish List" was and he said the restoring the section for the children. When he provided us the $32,468 list, he didn't expect us to provide everything and we weren't sure where we would get the funds, but we did.

We helped local senior citizens and families that flooded by replacing appliances after they rebuilt their homes.
Kingwood Rotarians also wanted a project that would benefit our local children. Since our Kingwood Branch Library provided services to all our children, we selected the Kids Area section as our project.
We asked Ryan Fennell, Branch Manager of the Kingwood Library for their "Wish List" to rebuild their Kids Area. The list included Dell computers, monitors, iPads, projectors, color LaserJet printers, workstations, chairs, Cricut machines, keyboards, and lots more.

Their Wish List totaled $32,468.11...and Kingwood Rotary donated the funds to purchase 100% of the items they needed for their Kids Area.
When Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, Rotarians around the globe responded to help. Thanks to the generosity of Rotarian in the USA and other countries donating to The Rotary Foundation, a large majority of the funds came from a Rotary Foundation "Gulf Coast Donor Advised Fund Disaster Relief Grant". The Rotary Club of Baton Rouge even contributed $6,000 to help us rebuild the Kids Area!
